Maternal Fetal Medicine
When your pregnancy is considered high risk, the board-certified physicians, sometimes referred to as a perinatologists, at Northwest Health are available to provide a range of care to both mother and baby.
A high-risk pregnancy is a pregnancy that requires special care, either because of a pre-existing medical condition with the mother, a problem with the current pregnancy or a fetal birth defect or complication.
The maternal fetal specialists work in conjunction with obstetric providers, neonatalists, laborists and obstetric anesthesiologists to ensure quality care is provided.
Maternal Fetal Transport
Maternal fetal transport aids pregnant mothers who require the advanced resources of a Level II or III hospital and/or are expected to need NICU care for her newborn(s). Included in the transport on the Northwest Health ground team:
- Maternal fetal nurse trained in high-risk obstetrics
- Critical care transport nurse/paramedic
- EMT
