Neonatal Intensive Care
Northwest Health offers advanced Level III neonatal intensive care inside Northwest Health - Porter. The NICU is located on the 4th floor of the hospital, inside the Birthing & Family Care Center - just steps away from the nine labor and delivery suites and two obstetric operating rooms. This convenient location allows for newborns in need of specialized care to be cared for by a neonatologist 24 hours a day/7 days a week both during and following the delivery of high risk infants.
Even typical pregnancies can result in unanticipated high-risk births and babies with special needs. Our NICU features 14 individual, private rooms so that newborns can receive specialized care without being separated from parents and family.
The NICU's rooms are specially equipped to help control environmental stimuli, such as lighting and noise, and feature a spacious and more comfortable environment for parents to stay and learn more about taking care of their new baby before they go home.
Northwest Health - Porter's advanced Level III NICU cares for infants of any gestational age, providing specialized equipment needed to care for and stabilize high-risk newborns.
The NICU provides care for:
- Premature infants of any gestation
- Birth defects and genetic syndromes
- Gastrointestinal disorders
