Ambulance Services
Northwest Health - Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operates as the county wide ambulance service for Porter County, Indiana. Operating 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, the team provides five Advanced Life Support ambulances from four designated stations and one BLS ambulance.
The ambulance team, staffed by emergency medical technicians and paramedics, recently acquired six mechanical CPR devices to better care for the residents and visitors of the communities.
An extension of hospital emergency departments in the area, crews work closely with emergency medical physicians and hospitals to provide top notch pre-hospital care. Our goal is to ensure the best possible outcome for every ambulance patient. The ambulance program is piloting a program that allows individuals who are interested in serving their communities an option to get paid while going to school. This program, called the Earn to Learn (ETL) program, accepts applications in October every year.
When Seconds Count, Count On Us
As an accredited Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center, healthcare professionals at Northwest Health - Porter – from first responders to physicians and staff in the emergency department – collaborate to deliver fast, efficient care.
For medical emergencies that result from heart attack or stroke, the EMS team provides advanced cardiac care that allows them to send information directly to the physician in the emergency room. This wireless technology allows the doctors to assess your condition and determine ahead of time the best course of treatment for your emergency.
